Sammi is a Composer, Songwriter, Producer, Trombone player, Singer, Arranger for Strings and Horns, DJ and leader of his own 18 piece big band. He was born in the 70's, raised in the 80's, and does not remember most of the 90's.

His music school didn´t have enough trumpets so they gave him a old cornet which he turned in a half year later and started playing the trombone. After high school, Sammi began playing in various bands, ranging from jazz, disco and easy listening to rock, reaggie and funk. In spring 2000, he graduated from FIH School Of Music where he also worked as a teacher for a while.

Sammi is lead singer and trombone player of funk unit Jaguar. The group has released 4 albums and toured trough Sweden, Norway, Belgium, Holland, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, UK (incl. London's Jazz Café). and USA (incl. Summer Stage festival in Central Park, New York.)

The band played a late night show after their long time hero Maceo Parker in 2003 and worked with former Jamiroquai producer Al Stone in 2004. That year they also performed with Harry Belafonte on Icelandic National Television and opened up for James Brown in Reykjavik Music Hall in August 2004.

Sammi formed his own big band (SJS BB) in 2000 to perform his own compositions. The SJS Big Band has released 2 albums, “Legoland” 2000 and “Fnykur” 2007.

Apart from working with Jaguar and his big band, Sammi has worked as an arranger and/or Trombone player for artists such as Sigur Rós, Mugison, Amiina, Tómas R. Einarsson, Mezzoforte, Marc Almond, Hjálmar, Stuðmenn, Sálin, Reykjavík Big band and Trabant. He has produced several albums with both his own music and others as well as working as arranger for film scores.
