Eberg - 3 nominations for IMA

on .

Tonight the Icelandic music business celebrates the music achievements of 2009 on television with live music, awards and impressive hairdos. Yep, it's time for The 2010 Icelandic Music Awards.

You might remember that this time last year Toggi and Bjarki snatched the 'Best Song' award, but tonight we are keeping all available body parts crossed for Einar Tönsberg, or Eberg. And we have a good reason to, as he is nominated for 3 important awards.

Feldberg's 'Don't be a stranger' is nominated for Pop album of the Year, 'Dreamin' is nominated for Song of the Year, and Einar himself is nominated as Composer of the Year for his work with Feldberg and Eberg. Not too shabby.

This is a good opportunity to nudge you gently towards Ebergmusic.com, Eberg's FB Fan Page, Feldberg's FB Fan Page and the relative MySpace sites of Eberg and Feldberg. That should keep you busy for a while.

Bjarki remixes March On! for Worm is Green

on .

From your frequent visits here, you should know who Bjarki is by now. What you might not know about him is that at night he dresses up in fancy vintage synthesizers and becomes Northern Lights Orchestra, or NLO.

Bjarki just finished an NLO remix of Worm Is Green's single March On! for an EP containing the original song, 2 b-sides and remixes by The Esoteric Gender, Futuregrapher and Roger O'Donnell (Roger played keyboards in a little known but promising band called The Cure) and of course NLO.

By now of course, you must be curious to hear what it sounds like:

Like it? You can check out the other remixes and purchase the March On! EP here, and the full album 'Glow' here.

Arnar: New commercial and Leaves live

on .

Arnar just finished scoring a new commercial for the Keflavik International Airport for agency Íslenska. Check it here:

Arnar's band, Leaves, have been following up their new album We Are Shadows, we went to see them live at NASA, and they put on a great show. So great, that we would actually like to share it with you here; here is the live version of 'Dragonflies', one of our favorite songs from the album:

The Feldberg Connection

on .

Remember this song for Kringlan Shopping Mall?

Well, as some of you might know, it turned out to be a very popular single, which has now been released in 2 languages.

It didn't take long for Eberg and vocalist Rosa to join forces again, this time for a Nova Telecom spot, directed By Arni Jonsson for Republik and agency Dagur&Steini.

The inevitable happened. Feldberg was born.

The pressure to release the song as a single soon became enormous, and when this is written 'Don't be a stranger' has stayed for 4 weeks on the top 10 list, with now real signs of being on it's way out anytime soon.

Check out the commercial, and you will understand why. Very catchy indeed. This is one of the many happy collaborations where a commercial gives a song it's wings so that it can take off itself.

You can buy the full song .:here:. And yes, Feldberg are now working on a studio album, of which you will of course receive more news here.

Eberg releases 'Antidote' in Japan

on .

Well, we promised to update you on the release on Eberg's new album, so here goes:

'Antidote' will see it's first release in Japan, it will be released on the 11th of February under the flag of music label Rallye. Rallye also distributed Eberg's last Album 'Voff Voff' in Japan.

Releasing an album in Japan traditionally means several bonus tracks, and specially designed artwork. Japanese fans should not have to be disappointed at all when it comes to this release. First, let's talk artwork. Renowned illustrator Ryoji Arai designed a magnificent cover for 'Voff Voff':

Luckily enough he also agreed to work on Antidote, and the result is really fun and pleasing to the eye:

Well, to celebrate the release we bring you, courtesy of Eberg himself, a new song 'One Step At The Time' Free to download. Yep, you heard right, Free. Listen here:

The bonus tracks are exiting. Returning visitors will perhaps remember this catchy little tune, composed for Kringlan shopping mall, and sung by Rosa, known for her great work with Sometime. Well, that song now exists as a full single in a japanese version, sung by popular japanese singer Cokiyu. The new version is called 'Himitsu No Hako' which literally translates 'a box of secrets'.

Add to that a spanking new version of Kinks 'All day and all of the night' sung by Jan Mayen's Valli. Valli also performed a guitar solo on the track, the first guitar solo on an Eberg track, a historic moment indeed. Checkit:

We will bring you news of releases in other countries as they unfold. In the meantime: Eberg Fan Page on Facebook
